Nurse FAQs
Whether you’re thinking about joining uPaged or you’ve already created an account, you’ll find answers to the questions Australian nurses ask us most often. From registration and compliance through to pay, finding shifts and building your profile, we’ve got you covered.
Getting Started
How does uPaged work?
uPaged is Australia's healthcare workforce marketplace for nurses. Simply create a free profile, complete your compliance once, then browse casual shifts, contracts and permanent opportunities with healthcare organisations across Australia. You'll see the pay rate before you apply, choose the work that suits you and receive booking confirmations directly through the platform.
Is joining uPaged free?
Yes. Creating a uPaged profile is completely free and there are no subscription fees. You only need to complete your profile once, and you can then browse and apply for available work whenever it suits you.
How long does registration take?
Creating your account takes around two minutes. Completing your profile and uploading your compliance documents may take a little longer, depending on how many documents you already have available. Once your profile is complete and verified, you'll be ready to apply for suitable shifts.
What happens after I register?
After registering, you'll receive an email asking you to verify your account. You'll then complete your profile checklist, upload your compliance documents and add your work history. Once your profile has been reviewed and approved, you can begin browsing and applying for available shifts and contracts.
Finding Work
Do I choose my own shifts?
Yes. Unlike traditional nursing agencies, uPaged allows you to browse available shifts and decide which ones you'd like to apply for. You're always in control of where, when and how often you work.
What types of work are available?
uPaged offers casual shifts, block bookings and permanent employment opportunities across hospitals, aged care, primary healthcare, community health, telehealth and clinical trials. Available roles depend on your qualifications, experience and location.
Can I work at multiple healthcare organisations?
Absolutely. Many nurses use uPaged to work across multiple hospitals and healthcare providers. You decide where you'd like to work and can build relationships with facilities that regularly invite you back.
Pay & Conditions
How much will I get paid?
Pay rates vary depending on your location, classification, experience, shift type and the healthcare organisation. Every available shift clearly displays the hourly rate before you apply, so you'll always know what you'll earn.

When do I get paid?
uPaged payrolls weekly on a Wednesday for all jobs we are the employer of record for, unless you request same day pay which can be processed within the hour once a timesheet is signed off.
Do I receive penalty rates and superannuation?
Yes. Where applicable, penalty rates, allowances and superannuation are paid in accordance with your employment arrangements and relevant workplace legislation.
Compliance
What documents do I need?
Requirements vary depending on the healthcare organisation and your profession, however you'll typically need:
- AHPRA registration (where applicable)
- Police Check
- Working With Children Check (where required)
- Evidence of vaccinations
- Mandatory training certificates
- Resume or work history
- Proof of identity and work rights
You'll only need to upload each document once, and uPaged will notify you when anything needs updating.
How long does profile verification take?
Most profiles are reviewed promptly after all required documents have been submitted. If additional information is required, our team will contact you directly.
Using uPaged
Is uPaged a nursing agency?
uPaged is different from a traditional nursing agency. We combine the compliance, employment and payroll support you expect with the flexibility of a healthcare workforce marketplace. Instead of waiting for phone calls offering shifts, you can browse available work, view the pay rate before applying and choose the opportunities that suit you.
Can I build relationships with healthcare organisations?
Yes. One of uPaged's biggest advantages is workforce continuity. Healthcare organisations can see your ratings, experience and previous shifts worked at their facility, making it easier to be invited back for future work.
What if I need help?
Our team is here to help throughout your journey. Whether you need assistance with registration, compliance or using the platform, simply contact us and we'll be happy to assist.
Students & Overseas Nurses
I'm a student nurse. Can I register?
Depending on your qualifications and completed clinical placements, some students may be eligible to join uPaged. Eligibility varies depending on the role and the healthcare organisation's requirements.
I'm an overseas nurse. Can I use uPaged?
If you're already eligible to work in Australia and meet the registration requirements for available roles, you're welcome to register. uPaged does not arrange visa sponsorship, so overseas applicants must have the appropriate work rights before applying.
